Turns out that even when Brian Wilson blows a save, the luck of the Irish bails him out.
Give the guy credit for the third longest save streak in Giants history, as well as the manner in which he handled blowing the save drew a happy contrast with one of his celebrated predecessors.
A bummer ND for Cainer, who continues his strong second half.
But how about that Pablo Sandoval? Since the kid looks to have some moxie, the Giants are once again having him take grounders at third. Let's hope a late career position switch - Fred Stanley et al tried working him in at third in the minors but it didn't stick - doesn't Bowker his hitting.

Smile for a while. Cain will avoid a double-digit win total, though I'll bet he could carry a sub-3.5 ERA. Ah well. At least a low win total would help us re-sign him for less cash in four years.
I've been impressed with Sandoval, too. Hoping he can be a difference-maker on next year's team and beyond. Hoping he can handle pitchers adjusting to him over time, though. Seems like a savvy player.
Sandoval does have minor league game experience at 3B. I saw him play third at Salem-Keizer in 2005. At his size you'd think he might have trouble on defense, but he did fine. At the plate, of course, everything he hit was a rope. Even the fouls were loud.
