Tim Lincecum is good. Really quite good. I can't overemphasize how good he is.
He proved it again last night.
He has a third of our team's victories. In other words, if this team wins 75 games, he would have 25 wins.
He's 5-0 when the Giants enter his starts on a losing streak.
He's 7-1 with a 2.33 ERA and 76 Ks in 69.2 IPs.
Simply, Tim Lincecum is video game good.
- Ditto Big Money. Out of his mind. An 8 for 8 stretch with RISP? Get outta here.
- On the other hand, or perhaps foot, Jose Castillo (800 foot homer notwithstanding) can't get a hit (or a sac fly) with RISP to save his life. .217 overall and a ghastly 0 for 9 with the bases loaded and 0 for 3 with runners on 2nd and third.
He's Pedro Feliz...lite. I just said it. Deal with it.
- Ray Durham doesn't play hard. In the words of Mark Grace, who I don't often quote, "Durham just stretched a triple into a double."
UPDATE: The fantastically bitter (and insightful) Mr. Lomez of the Bay Area Sports Machine devotes an entire entry to the hellacious sucktitude of Ray Durham. A must-read.

Hasan,
You continue to amaze - love the screen shot. Could it be that the Giants show up with not one, but TWO representatives in NYC in July? That would be pretty unbelievable.
Anyway, 10 games under .500 is, quite frankly, worse than I thought we'd be doing at this point in the season. That said, I couldn't have predicted we'd be in 3rd place with that record either.
I want Rich Aurilia to start over Jose Castillo from now on. From a youth-stifling standpoint, there's no difference, from a defensive standpoint, there's no difference, and from a random HR out of nowhere standpoint, there's no difference. So how about playing the guy who hits into (okay, marginally) less double plays?
Durham is an indisputable assbag. I just got done writing a post about how much I hate him.
And it's funny what you said about Grace. I also had to watch the D'Backs feed, and it was the first time I ever remember thinking that he might actually be right about something. I just loved that for the rest of the inning he would not let go of the fact that Durham should've scored.
the DBacks announcers were actually pretty tolerable last night. And fair. I was surprised. Grace seemed to be rooting for Lincecum more than the DBacks.
Mr. Lomez - you and I are on the same wavelength it appears. Didn't want to go on record talking up the previously intolerable Grace, but the guy was effusive in his praise of Lincecum, Molina and Rowand, and really gave it good to Durham.
I remember thinking, "If I didn't hate this guy so much, I might like him."
And Tim - you are the wind beneath my wings.
Castillo is so much cheaper than Peter Happy even if he often gives us similar results. That in mind, call him Pedro-lite or whatever, but he's a smart fit for our team that needs to be much more fiscally responsible.
Sean - if fiscal responsibility is the concern, why not sign Dallas McPherson or Jorge Cantu, both young third baseman that had shown a lot more than Castillo and could have been had for nothing? Some people put forward the argument that the Giants were relying on Frandsen at third, but I don't buy it - Aurilia was starting at third the majority of Cactus League before Frandsen went down. And to that end, you could start Aurilia and work Denker in at third right now.
Haha. Thanks for the link, Hassan.
Bitter?
You sound like my future ex-wife.
