I Figured Out Bullets Tildes

Admittedly, the post mired in incredulity is a cliche at best (and the product of hacks in truth), but give me some credit here:

~ Rich Aurilia, he of a .351 June batting average, goes all "legitimate ML hitter" on us and nets 5 RBIs.
~ The Dirtiest of Them All continues his impression of an ace on any other team in baseball - you know, the ones without Tiny McHowdhedothat.
~ The Giants beat the A's.
~ For the second game in a row.
~ By a lot.
~ At 36-46, the Giants are 5 games out of first at the season's halfway point.

With the win, the Giants finish a .500 June and enter July with as good a chance as anyone to win the NL Worst, where the first-place D'Bags now sit at .500.

So yes - I'm incredulous (in a good way).

Comment-Mill: So do we still want Sabean to sell at the deadline?  What if we could get a legitimate cleanup hitter for a Tim Alderson?

Heady times, indeed.

Do not buy! We are sellers! Don't be fooled! This team is a team in transition. If we win with this team, it's a plus, and a great building block... but let go of Alderson? Let go of any of our young studs?

Now's the time to sell high on Durham, on Aurillia, on Winn. Get some GOOD (good is important) peices and stock our system so we can come back in a year or two and become a powerhouse with a $126 million-dollar long reliever!

I am not totally convinced that you can truly get any "good" players for any of those broken-down old mares, but I agree, dave, in saying that the Giants MUST sell. I would take a second-tier prospect for Winn or Durham. Dump the salary, hope for some upside.

The fact that the Giants are in contention is kind of illusory given that they are 10 games under .500. If they managed to somehow back their way into the playoffs, it would likely lead to a hasty first-round exit, which would not be worth losing an Alderson.

If, however, a team like Atlanta, which needs pitching, were willing to part with the likes of a Teixeira, which they don't seem inclined to do, and the G's were sure that the guy would sign a longer term deal, which they likely won't, then and only then would I part with any of this young pitching.

Sell, sell, sell!!! Everything must go!!! Tyler Walker comes with a free bottle of minwax, which is sure to give your wood an incandescent shine.

There is no sense in selling the farm so that we can creep up to .500 ball. The giants are likely to see some junk thrown at them for the likes of Sanchez and Cain and should keep their cards close to the chest.

I want Sabean to buy like a patriot with a stimulus check.
